OrvietoVIE, widespread museum. The history of pottery to describe the city.

OrvietoVIE develops an evocative and complete story of the city with the language of images, and by means of metaphors tied to the past and to the present of pottery and to the different periods of its manufacturing. The aim is to guide the visitor to the discovery and to the research of the main features of Orvieto-its archaeology, its unique geology, its art, its architecture, its wine and food, its landscape, its underground- in a sensitive, concise manner, but at the same time, in a meticolous way.

Three rooms as old workshops, with a strip-table which follow boundary of walls where you can admire magnificent pottery tiles, decorated following Orvieto style, high definition interactive screens, tablet and multilingual audio socket. On the left, smart cases show some of the most important works of past and today's potters, permitting a recreational entertainment. You can reach the rooms crossing a space appointed for an “info point”, decorated with a big (and useful) map and equipped with furniture for promotional activities.

Just above, a “social point”, a space for meeting and “relax”, in the mezzanine floor, furnished with a “speaking bench”, provided with a tablet for the interaction between visitors and social network Other “speaking bench and totem” are in the most popular parts of Orvieto. A free app can be used as audioguide and as mean of sharing and a web site (www.orvietovie.it) can be dowload and used in order to complete the tour. A mix of clay, silicon and visions whose aim is to guide the visitor among the stories, the monuments and the grandeur which characterised Orvieto.

The framework, created by Orvieto city hall with the economic cooperation of Regione Umbria and Provincia of Terni, occupies the third floor of Palazzo Simoncelli, at Piazza del Popolo, headquaters of the Centre of pottery investigation, research and testing. “OrvietoVIE, widespread museum” develops an evocative and complete story of the city with the language of images, and by means of metaphors tied to the past and to the present of pottery and to the different periods of its manufacturing.
